How do I make my own ringtone for my cell phone?
Ringtone websites charge $2-3 per ringtone which is ridiculous. I want to use a clip from my favorite song. How do I make a ringtone from an MP3 and get it onto my phone? I have a Motorola RAZR V3. Do I need special software? Can I email it to my phone? My friend uses a site called Phonezoo but it's confusing.

My advice: don't overthink it. Pick the option that works best for your situation right now. Technology changes every 2-3 years anyway so nothing you choose today is permanent. The best technology is the one you actually use.
Have you tried checking the manufacturer's website for updates? A lot of these issues get fixed in patches that most people don't know about. Also check your firewall settings — sometimes they block things they shouldn't.
