How do I learn to play the piano as an adult beginner?
I always wanted to play piano and now I finally have one. I'm 35 and have no musical background. Is it too late to learn? Should I get a teacher or use a book or software? How long until I can play actual songs? Do I need a real piano or is a keyboard good enough to start?

Don't spend a lot of money right away. The industry changes constantly and what's considered the best today will be outdated in a year or two. Start with a mid-range option and you'll be happy.
Personal preference plays a huge role here so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. What I love, you might hate. But based on what you described, I think you'd really enjoy what I'm about to suggest.
