It's finally 2001! Kubrick and Clarke envisioned a Pan Am Moon shuttle, a sentient AI on Jupiter, video phones in every airport, and humans born in space. We have... the Palm Pilot and DSL. How accurate were they? |

Pan Am went bankrupt in 1991, which might be the most 2001 prediction ever. We have video calls via NetMeeting, though, so partial credit. |

The flat-screen tablet computers in the film are eerily accurate. Put an iPad in HAL's crew quarters and it's perfect. |

HAL misidentified the fault detector — and we have BIOS diagnostic beep codes that also give cryptic wrong answers. So actually that part is completely accurate. |
