I want to make my own website but I don't know where to start. Never written any code before. What are the best beginner resources for learning HTML from scratch? I've seen some 'learn HTML in 24 hours' books at the bookstore but I don't know if they're any good. |

htmlgoodies.com is the best free tutorial out there. Start with the primer series and work through the examples. It's how I learned. |

Webmonkey has excellent tutorials too. And the W3Schools reference is great for looking up specific tags and attributes once you know the basics. |

Honestly the best way to learn is view source on a page you like, save it locally, and start changing things. Trial and error taught me more than any book. |

The 'HTML for the World Wide Web' Visual QuickStart Guide by Elizabeth Castro is genuinely excellent. $20 well spent. |
