Just discovered PHP-Nuke and it's incredible for building a portal/news site without coding everything from scratch. It has user registration, news posting, forums, downloads, surveys, and more out of the box.

Anyone else running it? What modules are worth installing?

Running PHP-Nuke 5.6 for my clan website. It's great but the default themes are ugly — plan to spend time customizing. Also the security isn't great, keep it updated.

I switched from PHP-Nuke to PostNuke — it's a fork with better security and more flexibility. Worth checking out.

The forum module in PHP-Nuke is pretty weak. I'd run a separate phpBB installation and just link to it.
