I've been playing Halo non-stop since getting my Xbox and I genuinely think this might be the best console FPS ever made. The combat loop of guns/grenades/melee is perfect. The AI is genuinely intelligent. And the co-op campaign is incredible.

Only downside: no online multiplayer. System link is great but requires 2 TVs + 2 Xboxes. Still, the quality of the single player is unmatched.

Best console FPS ever, yes. The Warthog driving sections are some of the most pure fun I've had in a game. The Silent Cartographer level is a masterpiece.

The Library level can go straight to hell though. Repetitive corridors and Flood for 45 minutes. But everything else? Chef's kiss.

The 4-player split screen is legendary. Set up a LAN party last weekend with 16 people and 4 TVs. It was like being in an arcade.

GoldenEye was the king but Halo just took the crown. The controls are so smooth with dual analog sticks.
