Band of Brothers — greatest war show ever made?

Just finished Band of Brothers on HBO and I'm emotionally destroyed. The combination of incredible production values, real veteran interviews, and deeply human storytelling is unlike anything I've seen on television. Episode 9 (Why We Fight) absolutely wrecked me. Spielberg and Hanks produced something truly important here. |

The Bastogne episode might be the best single hour of television I've ever watched. The way it captures the cold and the fear is visceral. |

I watched the whole thing with my grandfather who served in WWII. He barely speaks about it but he nodded through the whole series and said 'that's how it was.' That broke me. |

The casting of unknown actors was brilliant. You don't see movie stars, you see soldiers. It makes the realism so much more effective. |
