The Corrections came out this fall and it's a beast — 550 pages about a dysfunctional Midwestern family. It's been getting incredible reviews and the writing is genuinely brilliant. Franzen captures the anxiety of modern American life in a way that's uncomfortably accurate. Is anyone else reading it? Heavy but rewarding. |

Reading it now. The Chip sections in Lithuania are darkly hilarious. Franzen has a gift for finding humor in misery. |

Oprah picked it for her book club and Franzen seemed uncomfortable about it, which is kind of funny. The man wants to be literary but also sell books. |
