My grandfather left me a small coin collection and it's sparked my interest. I've identified a few wheat pennies, some silver quarters, and what might be a valuable Morgan dollar. Where do I start learning about coin values and grading? Is this a hobby that can actually make money or is it purely for enjoyment? |

Get the Red Book (Guide Book of United States Coins). It's the bible for US coin collectors. Published annually with current values. Every collector owns one. |

The Morgan dollar could be very valuable depending on the year and mint mark. Don't clean it! Cleaned coins lose significant value. Take it to a local coin shop for an honest appraisal. |

Start by checking your pocket change. You'd be surprised what slips through. State quarters are a fun, free way to get into collecting. |
