What technology, trend, or product did you think was going to be HUGE but ended up fizzling? I'll go first:

- WAP mobile internet (terrible experience)
- Push technology (PointCast anyone?)
- VRML virtual reality worlds
- The Apple Newton
- MiniDisc (love mine but it never caught on)

Iomega Zip drives. For a brief moment they were going to replace the floppy disk. Then CD-R happened and Zip was dead overnight.

Digital convergence — the idea that your TV, phone, and computer would merge into one device. I mean, maybe eventually? But not yet.

Segway. Dean Kamen said it would change the world and be bigger than the internet. It's a scooter for mall cops.

3D TVs. Okay those aren't really a thing yet but mark my words — when they launch, they'll flop. Nobody wants to wear glasses to watch TV.
