Two arena shooters, both incredible, but very different philosophies. Quake 3 is pure, stripped-down competitive deathmatch. UT has more modes, more weapons, and more variety.

Which is the better game? I lean Q3 for competition and UT for fun. But I know this is going to start a war.

Quake 3 is the better competitive game. The movement system with strafe jumping adds a skill ceiling that UT can't match. Every top competitive FPS player came from Quake.

UT has Assault mode, CTF with translocator, Bombing Run, and Invasion. The variety is unmatched. Q3 has DM and team DM. UT wins overall.

I play both and refuse to choose. Q3 when I want pure skill-based competition, UT when I want variety and chaos. Both are masterpieces.
