Season 1 was a phenomenon. Season 2 in the Outback was solid. Now Season 3 is in Africa and the ratings are dropping a bit. Is the format getting stale or is it still worth watching?

I feel like the first season captured lightning in a bottle with the Richard Hatch alliance strategy. Every season since has been people trying to replicate that.

Africa is actually great TV. The location is brutal and forces different strategies. The show is evolving in interesting ways.

The format has legs but they need to keep innovating the location and twists. A tropical island every time would get boring fast.

I think reality TV as a genre will evolve but Survivor specifically has the best format. The voting mechanic creates natural drama.
