Every brand has its own card format and it is frustrating. CompactFlash is the most universal and cheapest per megabyte.

Honestly 3 megapixels is plenty for 4x6 prints and email. Dont let the marketing pressure you into spending more.

The Canon PowerShot A70 is a fantastic starter at $300. Good photos, AA batteries, and easy to use. Highly recommend.

Battery life is terrible - help!

Get rechargeable NiMH AA batteries and a fast charger. Carry a spare set. The LCD screen is the biggest battery drain.
