Is online dating weird or is it normal now?
I signed up for Match.com but I'm embarrassed to tell people I'm doing online dating. Everyone my age (30s) seems to think it's for desperate people. But I work long hours and don't meet people organically. Is online dating actually mainstream now? Are there safety concerns I should worry about? Any tips for writing a profile?

There's a difference between something being rude and something just being different from what you're used to. I try to ask myself that whenever I get annoyed by how other people do things. Usually it's just different, not wrong.
I think kindness goes a long way here. Whatever the 'right' answer is, you can usually find it by treating people the way you'd want to be treated. That old rule still works better than any complicated theory.
The cultural context matters a lot here. What's considered normal or acceptable varies enormously between different regions, generations, and social groups. There's no universal standard on this.
