How do I make a basic web page for free?
I want to make a simple personal web page but I don't want to pay for anything. Geocities and Angelfire offer free pages but they put ads on them. Is there a way to make a web page without ads for free? Do I need to learn HTML or are there programs that do it for you? Where would the page live?

It depends a lot on your connection speed. If you're still on dial-up, some of this just isn't going to work well no matter what. Broadband makes a night-and-day difference. Is DSL or cable available in your area yet?

Honestly the manual that came with it explains this pretty well if you actually read it. I know nobody reads manuals but for once it's worth flipping through. The troubleshooting section in the back covers the most common problems.
This is actually a really common misconception. The technology works differently than most people think. I'd recommend reading HowStuffWorks.com for a good beginner explanation before diving into the technical details.
