How do I make text bigger on websites without changing my whole screen?

Asked by Alice Hartwell — Jul 27, 2025 — Computers & Internet Resolved

Some websites have tiny text that's hard to read. I don't want to change my whole screen resolution just for one website. Is there a way to zoom in or make the text bigger just on the page I'm reading? Does this work in Internet Explorer? What about other browsers?

I'd recommend trying the free solution first before spending money. Nine times out of ten, the free option works just as well as the paid one. Only upgrade to paid software if the free version doesn't meet your needs.

Check how much free space is on your hard drive. Windows needs at least 15% free to run well — it uses that space for virtual memory and the swap file. If your drive is 95% full, that alone will make everything crawl.

I'd check Device Manager for any yellow exclamation marks. That's Windows telling you a driver is missing or broken. Right-click My Computer, Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager. Fix anything with a yellow mark and a lot of weird problems clear up.
