Blogger.com launched a couple years ago and personal blogs are exploding. Instead of building a full website, people just... write. Regular posts, reverse chronological, with links and commentary.

Is this format going to replace traditional personal homepages? Or is it just a phase?

Blogging is incredibly accessible. You don't need to know HTML to publish your thoughts. That democratization is powerful.

I maintain both a traditional site and a blog. Different purposes. The blog for regular thoughts, the site for portfolio and permanent content.

Movable Type is the blogging platform to watch. Incredibly flexible and the template system is powerful. Better than Blogger for serious blogging.
