The fastest growing sport you havent tried. Course reviews, disc selection, throwing technique, and finding local courses. Cheap, social, and addictive!
Avtoservis_hnei   Beginner disc recommendations Nov 5, 2025 7:29 am
You only need three discs to start: a putter, a midrange, and a slow driver. Understable discs are more forgiving for beginners.

Came here from a search engine and so glad I found this group. Subscribing now!

Wow, did not know that. Learn something new every day!

My two cents: start simple and build from there. Dont overcomplicate it.

Wow this thread blew up overnight. So many great responses!
Dave Modem   Forehand vs backhand Oct 25, 2025 3:29 pm
Backhand first - it is the foundation. Add the forehand later for tricky angles. Most pros use both situationally.

This is exactly the kind of straight talk I come here for. No fluff, just help.
Alice Hartwell   Finding free courses near you Sep 15, 2025 4:29 am
Most disc golf courses are in public parks and completely free to play. The PDGA course directory lists thousands of them.

My neighbor told me the same thing last week. Must be legit.

I had the opposite experience actually. For me it was completely different.

I second this recommendation. Have been using it for months.
Grace Tanaka   Reading wind on the course Aug 11, 2025 1:29 pm
Headwind makes discs more overstable, tailwind less. Throw lower and harder into the wind. Wind is the great equalizer.

Has anyone else tried this? I am curious about other experiences.
Grace Tanaka Aug 13, 2025 11:29 am
My setup is slightly different but I adapted this advice and it worked great.

I created a FAQ document based on this discussion. Happy to share if anyone wants it.

Respectfully, my mileage varied. But I can see why this works for most people.
Dave Modem   Etiquette on the course Jun 16, 2025 8:29 am
Quiet during others throws, let faster groups play through, and pick up your trash. Keep the courses welcoming.

Couldnt agree more. Wish more people understood this before jumping in.
