Is it healthy to fast or skip meals to lose weight?
I've been skipping meals to cut calories and lose weight. It seems to be working but I worry it might be unhealthy. Is intentionally skipping meals or fasting a safe way to lose weight? Will it slow my metabolism or cause me to binge later? Is there a healthier approach?

Talk to a pharmacist — they're an underrated resource and they're free to talk to. They know a ton about medications and interactions and can tell you whether something is worth a doctor visit or whether an over-the-counter remedy will do.
If you don't have insurance, look into a community health clinic. A lot of them charge on a sliding scale based on income. Don't skip care because you're worried about the cost — small problems are cheaper to fix than big ones.
I'd get a second opinion if something doesn't sit right with you. Doctors are human and they make mistakes too. Nobody knows your own body better than you do. If your gut says something is wrong, keep pushing until you get answers.
